Date Fished: 8/30/2011 Irene had very minimal impact on the Tidal Potomac River, although I would recommend avoiding the D.C. area due to the release of gallons of raw sewage into the river during Irene. The bass fishing has remained excellent. Locate grass in two to three feet of water and throw small baits. We have been ripping the bass on small shallow running crank baits, like a bomber speed shad on the high end of the tide and on the outgoing to low the hot bait has been a 1/8 ounce tandem willow leaf spinner bait with a chartreuse/white skirt. The bass have been very aggressive, knocking slack in the line on some strikes. This pattern holds up throughout the tidal changes and all day long.
