Date Fished: 9/27/2011 Water temperatures are dropping, some grass beds are thinning out and the bite is improving. There is a strong top water bite in the mornings along grass beds. Our preferred bait has been a Rico popper fished slowly. Finesse worms and Chigger Craws worked around grass lines, wood or rocky areas also catch good bass. Spinnerbaits, as well as chigger craws produce bass as well as a few fat catfish. Stripers, most sub-legal can be caught around rock piles and rock jetty’s up and down the river. They like a top water popper or a rattle trap. Crappie are beginning to show up in shallow water in the creeks. They seen to like a small grub or a Mepps type spinner.
