As an angler and guide and home owner on Lake Guntersville I would like to say a few things about the Roseberry Creek spraying. First and foremost I have a home on Guntersville and like everyone else understand the need to be able to use the water around your boat houses and the lake in general. However, I am totally against any organization trying to totally eliminate the grass in any one area; I have 3 points I would like to make!

First: For the city of Scottsboro to use our tax dollars when there are many more important problems that need to be addressed with money to help our community is a total misuse of tax payer’s funds. Our schools need money, we need jobs in the area and our town needs better medical care facilities, plus road improvement and more. Any money to help eliminate grass in Roseberry Creek by our city leadership is blatant misuse of our tax dollars, and we should vote out of office any leader that votes to do so! This is nothing more than poor leadership with personal agenda’s for the betterment of a few and not the community as a whole.

Second: There is no reason for any one group to have the grass totally eliminated from any creek, and Roseberry is no different, there are areas that boaters cannot run their boats. The creeks all have stumpy areas that are high spots and dangerous to boaters. These areas should be avoided by boats and there is no reason to spray them; they make good spawning grounds for bass and should be left alone as natural habitat for fishing. Spraying areas like this is a total disregard for the fishing and shows nothing but disrespect for others that use the creek for fishing instead of boating. I propose and have proposed to Mayor Potter that we put together a committee to work with the Roseberry Creek group to leave the areas of the creek that aren’t fit for boating along with some areas of natural habitat for fish. This could easily be done and a solution for both fishing and boating would be a good solution for all!

Lastly, if the home owners in Roseberry Creek were backed up to a Wild Life National Forest and decided to cut down trees so they could use the forest for four wheelers they would be in jail and the key would be thrown away. Why are there no government regulations to prevent this?
