Fishing on Rainy continues to be awesome with many reports of 6 lb plus Smallies on the boulder humps with at least 22' of water to hold the big ones. Its interesting to note that the smaller fish are staging both on shallow reefs along with deep transition areas. The Bruisers definately don't let the spikers hang out with them. The BronzeBacks are seldom this easy to located as they are now shoulder to shoulder.Medium minnows has generally been best for most, down from the extra large used a week ago . This means the temp is getting low and the season is getting close to the end for us Northerners.I have continue catch them on tubes as live bait is to cold for my hands this time of the year. Color along with a slow dragging presentation is the key to success with the rubber. All bites have become very sutle with a small tap only indicating a bite. Sectra fiber lines with flourocarbon leader sections have brought smiles to the user's faces as they are feeling twice the bites as the mono user's. This is definately the place for super lines. My time has been diverted towards way more Musky fishing this time of year as the fishing for them crafty big fish is also very predictable right now. Over a 7 day fishing period we landed 18 with only 2 under 20 lbs, most were around 26 lbs, 5 over 30 lbs and the largest was my personal best at 42 lbs on Lake of the Woodsduring the full moon period. What a riot. When the winds die I hope to get out a bit more for the last BronzeBack days till next spring. Jeff
