  Subject: Lay, Alabama

Submitted by Scott Myers (ip 216.180.71.185)

Date Fished: 5/15/2000
Water Temperature: 70
Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

Fished Lay for the first time today (Monday). It was tough for me. Stayed in mouth of Paint Creek mostly. Had 7 bass with 5 between 12 and 14in. I was told the water was down at least a foot and a half for dam maintenance (it looked it) and it was very windy. Could only catch fish one way, using a pearl fluke out in front of the grass beds. No bites flipping in grass or on edge except for a couple of early morning spook fish. It looked like the fish had pulled out and suspended about 4 ft. down over 8 ft. of water. I have snagged lampreys at G'vile too, and even caught a bass with one attached back in April
