Water Clarity: 0 I started in Flat Creek early to try for some gizzard shad or bluebacks. Threw 30 good 16' circles and left with 20 threadfin. Reckon all the stuff on the screen were teenies.
Patrolled Shoal Creek to the no can go bridge. Then tried trolling deep running lightning shad. Donated one to a tree near the Third Sister. That was good luck though; spotted a guide near one of those orange reef/striper markers. After the shouts and the splashes I snuck in and tossed a double propeller antique looking cream color piece of crap I bought at the Crabapple Antique Fest Sunday. That thing hit the water, I jerked, it bit!
6 lbs. on light spinner. Absolute blast. First topwater after all these years.
They blew up hard 40 yards away, I mean bait flying in front of the chomping jaws. 24 volts pumping, toss, BAM. 5 lbs.
Hooked up again, but the ancient hook straightened on a momma striper, near 10 or 12 lbs.
I sat in the howling wind and enjoyed a chilly Heine, and felt right with it all. Tomorrow back to the work meatgrinder.
