  Subject: Stick Marsh/Farm 13, Florida

Water Clarity: 1 foot

I headed over to Fellsmere Sunday to fish the best bass lake in the world, but conditions were less than favorable for me and my boat. I own a Basstracker Panfish Special that's been modified with decks in front and back, but that still doesn't make it one of the lightest crafts on the water and with high winds I had a very difficult day out on the "Sticks". My good friend Dave Kriebel came along with his ProCraft and a couple from Winter Haven wanting to fish the Sticks for the first time. I found them fishing the Southern part of the Farm near this roadbed. No sooner than I killed my motor, that I caught a 2lb+ bass on a Yo-Zuri Rattlin Vibe. Course I had too work it slow in order to get a bite. Dave's party wasn't so lucky and after fighting the high winds they decided to call it quits after half a day. I however felt that after driving 2hrs that I was at least going to stay for the day and so I explored spots I've never tried before seeing as how I was alone, well the wife came too, but she doesn't fish, so I was alone in my angling so to speak. Well as I mentioned my boat is very light and after fighting high winds I decided to head for more protected shorelines and found it where the strip of land that almost divides both lakes is. After throwing different baits like a worm and spinnerbait I opted to use a baby bass Yo-Zuri Rattlin Vibe. I ended up catching 2 fish that went 4lbs a piece. After things died down at this spot I headed for the Northern end of Stick Marsh. It was here where I caught several 2lb fish on an array of different baits, but never got lucky enough too hook a monster bass. After the sun started fading in the horizon I decided it was time to leave. As usual I enjoyed a day out on the lake and am looking forward to the next time I get too drive over that way. Until then I'll just have too fish the local lakes around here in Winter Haven, which ain't bad, but when compared to the Stick Marsh it's no comparison. Tight lines...
