About the recent reports on the river at stillhouse, I am sorry about all the confusion. I fish the river more than anyone on belton and stillhouse. Those of you that know me already know that. Yes running up the river is dangerous. But thats the case on every lake's river I fosh. From Stillhouse to Belton to Richland Chambers and Whitney, they all have their own characteristics but with a good map, a spare prop, and some basic knowledge of creek channels it can be a productive fishing hole. Wizards recent reports on Stillhouse are untrue to my knowledge. My opinion is that he ran all the way up there and didn't do any good and wanted others to do the same. He said he caught a nine lber. out of there. The biggest I have seen in my twelve years of fishing it has been a six. Average fish run about 14 to 17 inches. A three lber. is a solid fish up there. Its a good way to hit a quick limit though. Spinnerbaits, jigs, and worms are the most productive patterns in any river due to the cover. It can get very interesting up there at times. To correct Dave and Wizard, THERE IS NO BED FISHING UP THE RIVER!The water is stained at best up there never clear and usually muddy. Let me give you guys some tips on navigation, Look for the bigger trees running up rivers, USUALLY and I dont mean all the time but that will give you a starting point. Bluff banks ALWAYS indicate a channel, stay on the same side of the bluff banks. Fishing up the rivers usually gets good around February on texas summers and lasts till about the end of May. Early in the year, concentrate on bluff banks mid-river with a jig, later in the year speed up with a spinnerbait. I hope that little bit helps. Tight Lines, Adrian
