Date Fished: 5/19/2001
Water Temperature: 60
Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater

Fished an Albuquerque club tournament up there this past weekend. First time on the lake and I loved it. For the tournament, mainly smallmouth were caught up to 3 pounds 13 ounces. Lures included small jerk baits, crainkbaits in crawdad colors, and small crappie imitating spinnerbaits. Also an assortment of small minow immitating plastics were used with the best results. 18 pounds of smallmouth won the tournament (minow immitating plastics), but I had the big fish with a largemouth weighing 6 punds 12 ounces. This fish along with a 5 pounder prefishing were caught in Frances Canyon. Temperatures were ranging from 60 at the Marina and 65 back in the canyons. Lots of fish were caught, but lots were dinks. What a beatifull lake for New Mexico's standards.
