Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater Fished a small club tourney on sunday. Started at 6:00am. Fished 2-10ft of water in the grass. Caught one on a carolina rigged blue fleck power worm. Lost another on a top water. Partner got a 14-1/2in. keeper on a crankbait. Moved towards the damn at about 11:00am. Caught another one in 54 ft. of water on a drop shot rig w/ a 3" craw in pumpkinseed. Talked my partner into fishing the deeper patches of grass. Partner lost a good 2+ pounder at the boat and another big one that he never got out of the grass. I got some good bites but couldn't get the hook set fast enough. The pattern we figured out to use goes this way. Find 22-24' of water near the grass. Throw a double carolina rig with flukes on. Throw back in to the grass. Right at the edge of the grass is when you get picked up. Set it as soon as you feel pressure in the slightest, if you hesitate like me, you miss the fish and it isn't coming back for it. On our way back in we came across a big bass floating in the water. Tried to bring her back to life but it didn't work. Brought her into weigh in. I let every one else way in then I pulled her out and watched everybodys jaws drop. She weighed 7.92 lbs. After every body recovered from shock we let them know we netted her in the water. Such a big, good looking bass I had to bring her in. Fishing Frenzie.
