Date Fished: 7/19/2001 Abolutely the best day of fishing in the last 12 months......Gar fishing. I went through a whole back of worms, a pack of Gammys and a box of lead on the suckers. Must have hung 60 or so. Ended up with a couple of hours to kill so I put in below the Spillway just for kicks. Zero water being released, so I knew it would be tough. It seems the Old River Run and the the River is the first place in the area to setlle into the dog days of summer adn this trip was no exception. I hit all kinds of good spots and cover with a variety to little avail. Boated 3 fish that together would only make the skillet stink and you'd end up with a cornmeal samich instead of a fish samich. All came on a Torpedo from the rip rap of the spillway. Somebody put me on a prayer list wouldya? I need some good fish! Wannabe...
