Water Clarity: 0 Took my nephew with me yesterday to Lavon for sandbass around 8:00 am. We hit the mainlake with no sucess until around 9:30 and then they blew up all over the area. We caught and released over 100. Only about 35 would have been keepers but the thrill of the day was Michael catching a 24 1/2 inch striper. He had been pulling in sandbass after sandbass and every now and then he would say, "this one's a little bigger by the way it pulls" and when he hooked the striper he yelled out, "Don't know what I have but it pulls like a train". Knew right then he had a hybrid or striper. When he brought her up by the boat, three others were beside her and one was easily a 12 pounder. Took pictures and released her back in the lake. After that, he lost interest in catching the "small sandbass". It's a great time to get the kids on the lake to catch numbers. Most are around 8-10" with some 12-14" mixed in. Every now and then you would see bigger fish knocking the sanbass out of the water but by the time we got to the area, the fish had moved on. You have the chance to pick up a few big ones if you can get the slab down through the schools. We threw a chart. slab and a blue/silver slab. Good luck and
