Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater Crystal clear water with a visibility of about 15'. I put the downriggers on today to try a little deep water trolling. We started off by the ramp with a Rapala floater #5 in Clown and a 4-8' Perch Crank. I was casting about 6"-1' from the lilly pads. Nearly every 5 cast would yield a largemouth. Into the topwater crashing add a couple nice small mouths and you have some serious fun on 6lb gear! Mike caught 6 and I caught 4 buckets with the large fish going 3.1lbs. We both got a smalley with the largest just over 2 lbs. We dragged the downriggers for an about an hour. Using 3/8 oz Mack Farr chipmunk jigs with a 3" chartruese curly tail at 45' did a number on 3 nice rainbows, largest at 4.5 lbs, 2 northerns, largest at 8.9lbs and one eye at 4.1 lbs. The great thing about fishing here is you never know what the heck is going to crash your lure. No one else on the water to boot! Tight lines from the Northwoods.
