Water Temperature: 50+
Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater Fished with the loons to no avail. All the gulls were high and cruising. Only one feeding frenzy, and it was over before we could pull in and run for it. The loons were bunched together and (to me) "nervous" looking. They dove some, but mostly they huddled up and cruised around.
Found what looked like a huge school of arches in a 100' hole beside Dreher Is.; and saw some surfacing Stripers, but none near the boat. Big flock of loons, huge-looking school, all in a big, deep hole, but no bites on bucktails, poppers, spooks, Road Runners, etc.; big, small, fast, slow, deep, shallow... everything we could think of.
Every time a boat passed, the surface hits stopped until the wake subsided completely.
There was a tournament that day -- the landing was packed.
I wonder, has anyone else noticed whether Stripers get more skittish during periods of higher boat traffic? It seems that way to me, but I don't have enough data.
