Water Clarity: 0 I fished for about an hour in a very small private pond this evening. Weather was clear skies, temperature 62 degrees. Started fishing for bass, but did not get any hits. I used a white Senko rigged wacky style and deadsticked also - I still haven't caught a fish on one of those things yet. I also used a superfluke and a buzzbait just for kicks - no takers on either. Eventually I decided to see if there were any other species in the pond so I threw out a 3" white curly-tail grub. I caught a crappie on the first cast. I proceeded to catch 7 decent crappies in all. On one of the last casts I hooked up with about a 4# LM, but I lost it after the second jump fairly close to the bank. I really had no shot to get it in on ultralight equipment and a 1/16 oz. jighead - it would have required a near-perfect hookset with that small of a hook. I'm just curious so I'll ask - what's the biggest fish you've caught while fishing for another species with a small bait? I have landed a 4 lb 6 oz. LM on a 1/32" crappie jig before - but he was very lethargic.
