We camped out of Wahweap and did really well on the smallies and walleye, stripers too. We caught all of our fish on cranks in crawdad brown/orange. The afternoon bite and evening bite was awesome. We mainly fished the broken up rock near the walls and main points. During the day we targeted the shady stuff, it was pretty easy. Fat Free shads,Bombers, and the Berkley Frenzy worked the best. All of the quality fish 2-3 lbs came after 8:00 p.m. in the dark. The numbers and size went way up at night. Small cranks, the 8-12 foot divers on 8-10 is what we used. The walleye like the bait fished a little slower than the smallies and stripers. During the day we used the same baits and we got lots of stripers and smallies on them. I could not buy a fish on a shad colored bait. All the fish were leaving the shells of crawdads in the livewell. The limit on smallmouth is 20 per person per day, keep em too. The lake is over-populated with them and they taste great. I caught 3 largemouth and one was really nice, 3lbs + which we let go. I also caught one nice smallie at 10:00 p.m. on a crank across from the marina at wahweap, nice 3lber that we let go. Take it easy during the day and scout out areas for your night fishing and hit it hard after 6 p.m.. You won't be disappointed. With the low water, watch out for the reefs - there are tons of them that will take off your lower unit.
