Water Clarity: 2-3 feet Fished a the second of two club tourneys, a trailer tourney, at King Lake. Launched out of Sunset King Resort. We were allowed to fish anywhere we chose between 5pm Saturday until 2pm Sunday when we had to be back for weigh-in. King lake is known for some Big fish. 17 lber caught a couple years back, and 16 lber 8-9 years ago. Started in the stump fields with no luck. My partner pick up two at night shallow. Early morning bite was shallow as well and you had to fish slow. Worms were the ticket. Black and Black Grape produced best. The bite switched to the stumps around 10 am. My partner finished with five fish at 8.5 lbs. I finished with 4 fish at 3.98 lbs. Another in our club fished this lake as well missing a monster 10-12 lber at the boat. He was still shaken up at the weigh in. Big worms for big fish was reported the ticket for him. Another club member also fished King and had the winning stringer at 13+ lbs/5 fish. Nice basket of big mouths. Most of those he said came in the hours of darkness.
