Water Clarity: 0 Went fishing tonight with a friend to a small pond-lake & had the best bass fishing I've ever had.
It started out really slow with a strong wind blowing down the lake making fishing almost impossible. But after about an hour the wind died down some & I got 2 little bass in the 7 to 8" range. We were thinking of leaving when we got the bite. The first big fish hammered my floating eel rig & broke off as quick as it hit. I had never fished this lake before although I've been wanting to for about 2 years, & I didn't know how to get into it. It's pretty remote you have to pack the boat in, so I'm sure the fish we caught had never see a lure before. The pond is only about 4 ft deep & pretty weedy, but in the last 30 min. of daylight we had about 30 fish on. We kept 5 fish, all the fish went from 2 to 4 lbs. They hit on every cast in that 30 min. I tried a minnow on a floating rig & they took it just like the eel. Nailed it about every cast, then like a switch had been turned the bite stoped just as it got dark. Needless to say my buddy & I can't wait to get back & try for the really big one that broke my line & got away. My little pond was one GREAT FIND. Oh some lady on our way in there said there's no fish in that pond & it had a aquafer that would pull you under. (what ever that is) I just smiled & said ya sure.
