Date Fished: 2/1/2003
Water Temperature: 36
Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater

I fished Lake Adger on Saturday with pretty good results. I took live minnows and trolled them all day. Started on the flats and worked all the way down the lake. The water temp varied from 36-40 degrees. The only place I could find any fish willing to bite was between the first old house and Garretts hollow, along the rock bluff. I managed to catch one crappie, two large mouth about 11" and 10 very nice white bass. All fish were released. The fish bit very odd, they were either hooked by the skin of the lips or they swollowed the minnow. I saw two other boats on the lake Sat. One was a young man who had trolled for muskys all day with no luck, and another member of the Western North Carolina Musky Club. He had been working on his property and fished a Couple of hours. I once caught 2 walleyes out of 52 feet of water on Lake James on an ice jig, other than those two, Sat. was the deepest I had ever caught fish. I trolled the minnows on 30 lb. spider wire to a three way swivel using a 3/4 ounce sinker. Ran the trolling motor slow (off and on) to troll that deep. After working this area I guess I spooked the fish and they quit biting, went on down the lake with no results, came back to the same area and caught 3 more. Quit at 5pm. Its an hour and ten minute drive one way back home in Marion.
