Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater It's been along time since I have fished Skinner. I figured there would be bass on beds and they would be catchable. The bass were up and cruising but not many on beds. It seems that every year the population declines. The water is in the tules, hopefully long enough for the bass to spawn and the fry and fingerling to have a place to hide from the stripers. All of my Fish were sight fish, young males eager to defend their little scratched out holes on whatever they could find. One of my fish came of an umbrella in about 7 feet of water. All day I managed 5 fish (released all), 2 on tubes in the tules and 3 on jig'n pig. My 2 tube fish were both about 3 lbs. each, 1 jig fish about 2 pounds and the remaining two just over 12 inches.
Lake water temp was 61° F and got up to 64.6° F. Water was clear except with the East end that had a nice stain to it. Not to crowded for a Saturday. Clear skies with afternoon winds to about 5 mph.
Maybe if we let them all go and the MWD does not drop the water as they have in the past, the bass will get off a good spawn with a low mortality rate.
