Water Clarity: 1 foot The river was close to ideal and the weather was perfect when John and I launched from Cumbest Bluff Saturday morning but somebody forgot to tell the fish how good things were. River stage at Merrill was 7.8 and just a slight rise due to upstate rains and water was falling out of most of the lakes. We fished Caswell Lake,Parker Lake slough and Brewton Lake catching a dozen small bass and more goggle eye than I could keep count of. Almost all fish came on plastic and none on spinner baits. Had almost forgot how pretty the river is this time of year and with air temps in the 70's and low humidity the fact that we did not catch the fish we were looking for didn't matter so much. A good day on the water despite the lack of quialty fish.
