Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater On the lake at about 10AM. Threw a jig for awhile with no luck. A lot of bass are still guarding their beds and are very wary. Most of the big bass are not turning their heads for anything, although I had one follow a Pop R but couldn't get it to bite.
Today was overcast with the sun beating through the clouds and I felt it after getting home, gotta love that bassmans tan.
With no bites after a few hours, I decided to downsize and went to my trusty darthead. Since it was overcast I stayed with two main Roboworm flutter tail colors, Hologram Shad and Tequila Sunrise. The water was clear enough to see the fish inhale some of these offerings.
I also dropshoted a straight tail Rythm and Blues that also got bit. Most of these fish were small, in the 1 1/2 to 2lb category but they were fun to catch.
The last three times I've been out at Castaic, both upper and lower in the last month, it seems to be overcast and almost all my fish have come on the techniques mentioned above when all else failed. It's starting to heat up out there so don't forget your sunscreen.
