Hello all you big lake bassers out there that aren't really catching the average daily number of bass that you would like to be catching; that is about 13-16 bass a day! Well, I love reading all your sob stories about their not being enough shad or how the ol' lake has been really low this year, however I'm here to tell you all to take a trip down to Lake Los Carneros. True, some call it a pond, but a float tube goes a long way in this small pond. Took a trip last week (06/21/03) and pulled in 13 fish for a mere one and a half hours worth of fishing. Yeah, the biggest was only 2.5 lbs, but it was worth it because it was practically strike after strike on top water and weight-less grubs. The way I look at it is if you ain't eating the fish, you minus well catch a lot. If you guys do feel like seeing some consistent top water action and don't mind the small size, try Carneros out, I guarantee you that you won't be disapointed. Take the kids out, I did, took my two nephews out that same day and they were killing the blue gills on small poppers too. The bluegills are exellent fighters on 4lb line and the ones that hit poppers are on average 11-12" (no joke). That is pretty impressive for this pond; I guess they are just doing a lot better than the bass are. Well hope you guys enjoy your next trip and remember, take a nephew or son out, we need to keep the sport alive, especially with all the new video games and computer cultures that they are exposed to these days. 'till next time.
