WATER LEVEL - 916.06 Normal Pool 915' JAMES RIVER Upper 85-90 - Main Lake 84-88

Kimberling City, Dam Area, & Baxter-

I have found most of the main lake fishing to be tough. Finding some fish 30-45' deep on main lake gravel points on bottom or in or around submerged timber. In the same depth, but may be in over 100' of water. Use drop shot rigs or 3/4 oz. spoons in chrome or white or night crawlers. You can catch some shallow fish if you can find stained water such us upper Long Creek, Trace Hollow, Indian Creek... Throw shallow running carnkbaits or Team supreme jigs around visible cover on the flats, or s\fish the jigs along the channel banks especially around channel swings.

The James River has been producing best for me these past 3-4 weeks. Catching fish on a variety of different lures and depths, which is normal for this time of year. Let's start out with looking for quality largemouths.

Fish main river flats and channel swings, & drops in the morning. I've been fishing deep diving crankbaits, such as DT-16, DD 22's, Fat Free Shads, in Tennessee Shad, Chrome/Blue, & blue gill colors. A couple of times this week, when finding the right group of fish my clients or I have had a double, one keeper on the front hook and one on the back treble hook.

The best drops run from 10'-20' deep. I have also been catching them on the flats 15'-20' deep under schools of large shad. Carolina rigs in the same areas, with brush hogs, Team Supreme lizards, Lake Fork ring fries, in watermelon and & green pumpkin. My best areas have been from Cape Fair on up the river. From Cape Fair to Aunt's Creek fish the main lake points and bluff ends in 18'-25' with drop shot rigs and 4" finesse worms, 1/2 to 3/4 oz chrome or white jigging spoons the further into the clear water you go. You'll find the fish anywhere from 25'-35' on bottom or over submerged timber. Most of the fish up the James River have been right on the bottom or within a couple of feet.
