Water Clarity: 0 Went out saturday to get some wade fishing done at my favorite part of the Potomac - Point of Rocks. The river is divided into three channels by two islands and the fishing is usually fairly brisk. I've managed to hook up with large mout bass, crappies, perch and bluegill. Usually you can see catfish in the shallows as well.
The river is still running a bit high (I'd guess about 18" higher than normal) and the flow was strong; if you are wade fishing stick to the shoreline for safety! Water clarity was poor, the river is still muddy with less than 4" visibility. There are no real weedbeds given the mud and current.
There are plenty of downed trees near the shoreline that breakup the current and provide the fish some relief. I had moderate success using a firetiger Rat-L-Trap and a chatreuse spinnerbait. Managed to catch three largemouth in an hour and a half.
With luck the rain will go away for a week or two and the river will clear up a bit more.
