fished the big indian for the first time in a long time. all i can say is wow. the big sqaw was one great lake today. put in at 25e and ran down and started in german creek throwing a citris mann's 20+ and caught several fish in the 3 to 4 pound range with several of those being smallies. when the sun went in behind the clouds for long periods of time we went on down lake in the bottom creeks, not sure of the names and were catching fish all day long a pop r and tiny torpedo. mostly just keepers but did manage 1 over 4 and one big smallie that was in at 5.02 on digital scales on the pop r. the key in the afternoon was to find the bluffs with the big boulders on them and toss it tight into it. usually it was one or two quick pops and that was when they hit it. we had several that almost swallowed it, and actually had one to die from having it so far back. that was the only one not to make it, but it was one of the 4 pounders. we found a nice gentleman who was fishing at the bridge in german creek who was happy to take it off our hands. did see several blow ups today from rockfish, but they would not stay up long enough to follow. did get a couple of stripes on a bandit this morning but that was all as far as the bandit went. talked to some at pizza plus that had fished up past poor valley creek and they said all they had today was about 5 stippers and 2 10 inch bass. they said it was dead and when we told them about our day they got up and said they were headed back out to the lake, but now sure if the did. all in all, the best bass day i have ever had on cherokee, and for that matter the best day ever except for a couple trips to florida i have had. best 5 would have been in the 20 to 22 pound range. bet i could go tomorrow and probably not have 5 pounds, but it was fun while it lasted. glad i did not listen to my brother and go to douglas, but who knows..it might have been better. hope to be back soon. leave me a couple.
