Subject: St. Johns River , Lake Washington to Sawgrass, Florida

Submitted by Fish On Bass Fishing Excursions

Date Fished: 10/22/2003

Water Temperature: 75
Water Clarity: 1 foot

The above fish I dedicate to my bass fishin' bud in Atlanta, that's you Freddy !!!

Dropping water levels and temperatures have brought many strong and healthy fish out of the thick vegetation and into the current of the main river where they are schooling up over shellbeds, and isolated wood in 4-7 feet of water.

Today I caught 7 fish from 2 to 4.5 lbs. carolina-rigging these areas at or near bends in the river from Lake Washington to Sawgrass, there seems to be SOME fish at every bend but after 3-4 bites they shut down, my biggest fish was near the mouth of Lake W. (remember the St.Johns River flows south to north)

My c-rig:

Pinnacle Tetra HS baitcaster, 7 foot Onyx rod

Power Pro 12/50lb. braid as main line, you will feel more guaranteed

3/8- 1/2 oz. Gambler Rattlin' weight above 2 glass beads and swivel

24 inch 30lb. flourocarbon leader to 2/0 Gamakatsu EWG Superline hook (use shorter leader in heavy wind or dirty water)

My choice for plastics is ever-changing though it is always something I made or a Gambler Worm of some sort, todays bait of choice was an 8" Gambler ribbontail in "Xmas" color. (junebug + red flakes)

"stick martian"
