SUBJECT: Catch & Release Please

Submitted by Lanier- No Solution (24.99.102.92) from GEORGIA on

As far as guides or whoever keeping a legal limit of any fish, it's all up to the DNR to moniter and change laws and creel limits as needed. How about a slot limit on spotted bass- all fish between 14 & 22" must be released imediately, daily limit 1 fish over 22"? Can you tourney guys live on a 1 fish weight in? NOT! Maybe all guides should require a DNR permit that requires total C/R. Some people fish for fun, some for a living, and others for food. Other people use the lake and have no respect for us fisherman whatsoever. It's like the NASCAR rules, you can't make everybody happy!

What will be the purpose of your proposals and what will be the outcome?

I'm just pointing out what the outcome could be if WE fisherman do not use common sense, and stop the finger pointing. I,m referring to Stripper Guides supposedly keeping numerous (10 p/p)spotted bass, which is totally within the law. I would imagine Bass fisherman outnumber Stripper fisherman by a good ratio. So if I keep my limit of Stripe Bass, which I wasn,t fishing for in the first place, and every one else did the same, no Stripes= No Business. Use common sense: LIMIT YOUR KILL==== Dont KILL YOUR LIMIT!!! And lets not get DNR involved. I see Eric,s post about a 3 fish limit for summer tourneys! ===Common sense==== 2 fish less per live well= better survival rate. No impact on payouts or fun. Hope this explains my concerns.

not a bad idea catch in all lakes and release in west point. be sure to put some stay alive in well while hauling.

  4. Pof (75.91.58.241) from GEORGIA says State of bass
Has anyone else noticed the condition of the bass they are catching? I have caught very few fish that have no evidence of being caught frequently...broken jaws, blind eyes, ripped mouths. Not a PETA person, just wonder how often the same fish gets caught over and over again?
