SUBJECT: # 1944: Northern Virginia Bass Club seeking New Members

Submitted by Big Bite (65.242.127.130) from VIRGINIA on 1/8/2008 11:08:00 AM

A small bass fishing club, Big Bite Bass Anglers, in Northern Virginia can provide the “lure” you may be looking for. The club was established to improve the bass fishing skills of its members through friendly competitive fishing tournaments followed by the exchange of information and techniques. Big Bite Bass Anglers is a small group of fishermen with varying degrees of bass fishing experience. Members compete in eight tournaments annually (five on the Potomac River and three on other waters within Virginia). Tournament partners are drawn before each event except for one home (Potomac River) and one away tournament. Members for these tournaments select their partner from the membership. A monthly meeting is held in the Tysons Corner area of Fairfax County where the past tournament results and fishing experiences and techniques are discussed, and the draw for upcoming tourney is held.

An annual membership fee and entry fee for the eight tournaments is paid up front, and also provides for year end awards (individual first, second, and third place finish, and big fish). 100% of the tournament fees are paid in prize money.

  1. 5/14/2008 8:58:00 PM Submitted by PW Naturalist (76.27.169.194) from VIRGINIA says Give back our lake!!!
Please help spread the word and help in the fight to get our lake back!!!

The political controversy continues on this tremendous fishing lake, with the continued closure of the lake to anglers and boats of any kind (including kayaks or canoes). They've even started giving land owners along the lake a hard time for fishing from shore! All 22 miles of it!!! It appears that once again this year, the City of Manassas is going to continue their ironclad stand rather than trying to reach an agreement. This attitude serves only to reinforce the widely held opinion that politicians care only about their own agenda. What their constituents want does not matter at all. The city of Manassas sites Terrorism and the possible introduction of the Striped Zebra Mussel as reasons for the closure. Meanwhile, a golf club on the Lake charges a $120k initiation fee. Why is a publicly funded lake closed to the public!?!?
