    Eagle FishElite 480 power cord replacement?

 The power cord on my FishElite 480 has developed a short - the whole thing will shut down when I adjust the positioning of the unit, and this is what I've clearly narrowed it down to - appears to have developed a short where the cord enters the cord-to-unit plug/fitting.

Looking at the cord-to-unit plug, there are two cords that run out of it - one runs to the ignition for power, the other is the transducer cord. The entire fitting, cord and transducer are one piece with no splices or inline connections. Meaning if I just want to replace the shorted cord/fitting, it looks as if I have to replace the entire unit, including the perfectly fine transducer epoxied to the inside of my hull.

Surely there's a better fix than this? Help?

I do have an entire spare cord/plug/transducer that I could sacrifice for repair. Could I easily splice the plug onto the existing cords/transducer? Or is there a better way?

 Is there a way to just replace the cord/unit connection without having to replace the transducer, too?
