I have a 1990 Nitro 175tf with a Trailstar single axle trailer. I am wanting to install surge brakes, but i need to know what the upgrade would cost me. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

thanks, Dan

Dan, Go to www.championtrailer.com. Full set of surge 382.50. The same set with Stainless Steel Disc Brakes is 448.90. Disc's are alot easier to clean. Lot less to go wrong. Dunk
Thank you dunk!! from Dan (207.193.0.107)  4/28/1998 6:08:00 PM
Thanks for the info. I bookedmarked champion trailers for the future. I found a place here in town. $1400.00 to buy and to install. Is that in the ballpark? Thanks Dan

Depends on which league you want to play in. If you can get a conversion kit for around 4-500 dollars, do you think that there is a thousand dollars worth of labor to install em?

From what I've seen, it involves redoing the hubs with drums or disks, running the brake line and installing the master cylinder/ ball mounting on the tongue. If the ball mounting is welded on then that's gonna be some work, if it is bolted on then it shouldn't be too bad. Finally, you will have to bleed the system. Is it worth paying the labor costs of a thousand dollars? I don't think so, but that's your call. Good Luck.

Oops! wrong price from Dan (207.193.4.104)  4/29/1998 10:18:00 AM
The 1400.00 estimate i gave to you was wrong. actual price is 450.00 to 600.00 for complete installation. damn, i can buy me some beer now, with all that money i saved. gl and gf dan
