SUBJECT: # 2817: Moorehead City, NC Guides

Submitted by Fly Chunker (24.225.49.19) from NORTH CAROLINA on 10/19/2005 6:22:00 PM

I am looking for a F. albacore guide out of Moorehead City who can handle an experienced fly fishermann and a 15 year old "semi - beginner" fly fisherman. Any suggestions?

As an after thought, any suggestions on a drum guide?

Chunker, here are a few a grabbed quickly off from Brian Horsley's website. I would also add Dean LaMont of Crystal Coast Adventures---google him.

If you need someone to share a trip with you, shoot me an email back to lpenny@plc-cpas.com. I'm looking to get down there also, but need a boat. Past few seasons, the albies have been best the first 2 weeks of November. Who knows this year, with all the warm weather/water we have had. Could be Thanksgiving.

I would like to throw my name in the pot as well. If you have not found a guide yet that is. Most are getting booked up for the peak dates. I currently have open the 3 days prior to Thanksgiving as well as this Sunday the 6th of November. Albies are showing up more each day and the peak should be right before Thanksgiving as normal. Let me know if you're interested. Dean Lamont is a great guide and pretty well booked but give him a try. Super fella. Capt Tom Roller of Waterdog guide service is great as well. You can visit my site at www.ShacklefordCharters.com for my information. Call me at 252-725-5941 to check on dates. I do a lot of fly fishing for Albies and it's the only way I really enjoy catching them anymore. Too easy on the spinning gear but I do take people that route as well. Thanks for looking! Capt Scott

I used Capt. Ken Kammer (above address). I can't say enough about Ken. Years of experience, honest, fun. Ken took us out one rainy windy day for drum and said if we didn't find anything he wouldn't charge us! Really nasty weather. Well, he put us on some of the best fishing I've ever had. Big drum and so many it was just nuts. On top of that he's just a blast to fish with. He's up for albies to. The best GAry
