Has anyone ever caught a wahoo on the fly? Will they respond to chum/chunking? Any particular colors/flies? Thanks for any advice.

I'm sure they can be taken. Check the IGFA for current records. Probably have to locate a school by trolling them keep them close with live chum (enough to keep them interested w/o feeding them).
Go for bright colored and flashy flies.
And don't forget the wire leader and lots of backing! :-)
Good luck.

Wahoo have been taken on the fly. One was taken last fall out of Hatteras that set a new record for the Atlantic Ocean...I think it was around 40 lbs, I can't remember. I don't know how they did it, but I bet it was with trolling to find the fish then chunking to keep them. There is a good book called Blue Water Flyfishing I think by Trey Combs or Dan Blanton (I'm not sure). Great book, he tells a story about catching them off Cabo out of a long range boat, they would troll with plugs until they got a hit, then start chumming with live bait. They caught quite a few, lost a lot more, and set a world record...around 60 lbs I think. Good luck, sounds like fun.
