I have a 9wt that I want to use in the surf this year. What type of fly line would you suggest to use in the surf? I have a SA Mastery SW WF Floating right now. Any suggestions?

I'm no expert but a intermedeate shooting head & running line will work.

I agree about an intermediate line. Unless you have an absolutely flat calm surf and dead wind a floating line will be thrown about by waves and wind. You won't be able to work the line properly. At least an intermediate (sometimes in rougher surf you need a faster sinking line too) it will get just below the surf, enough to avoid most effects of waves and wind.
However, unless distance is a significant issue I'd go with a full line instead of a shooting head.
In either case be sure to use a stripping basket and a basket insert. Line allowed to dangle will quickly tangle and foul.

If you're in breaking surf over about 1' you want that line (all of it) getting down and getting down fast, unless you're using a surface pattern. I tried fishing floating and intermediate lines in the surf for most of a season in the Northeast - pretty sure the few hookups I had were dumb luck with 'unintentional wave retrieves'. Someone recommended a full-fast-sinking line and it made ALL the difference. As arts-n-flies mentioned, a stripping basket is critical as well, to avoid getting your legs tied up in flyline granny knots - this too I learned the hard way...
Flyfishing the surf is great when you're rigged right, and s&*#^ when you're not.
Best luck!
