SUBJECT: # 2896: Need advice for fishing around Brownsville
Submitted by

I will be in the Brownsville, Tx area in late Nov and Dec. I do not wish to hire a guide and I don't have a boat. I do have an all-wheel-drive car (Subaru). Please help me with info to find some do-it-yourself fly fishing.
Also, I'd like a recommendation for a Fly fishing specialty shop in the area.
THANKS

South Texas has alot of oppurtunities, weather allowing I would try the jetties on Boca chica beach at the end of hwy 4. My choice would be an
intermidiate line with your choice of deciever,
tarpon bunnies, or clouser all white or olive and white.
Cast out and allow fly to sink, most strikes are deep and close to rocks, try varying your retrieve.
If possible fish when tide is moving.
