  1. 8/26/2008 9:31:00 PM Submitted by Beartrap from GA says question
new Shimano chronarchs sell for $269.00...this one is several years old....why is this reel worth $265.00?

  2. 8/27/2008 6:44:00 AM Submitted by Stratos295 from GA says Why
This reel is not made anymore and many angler really love this reel and are hard to come by..May have been made a few years ago...but NEW COND>>Thanks

  3. 8/27/2008 8:23:00 AM Submitted by bigL62 #13853 from OK says I saw one of these bring $400+ new in box on ebay
last christmas. $265 is about right with what they are bringing on ebay in this condition.

  4. 8/27/2008 11:44:00 AM Submitted by cardiac art from FL says older chronarch mg
The reel seen in the picture is the older version of the chronarch MG with painted surface that chips badly with normal use. Shimano painted them because the side plates were made of graphite as were the regular chronarch of that mfg. run before they remodeled them and made them of metal, graphite beihg used because of weight i suppose. The frame on the mg's is magnesium, where the regular chronarch's is aluminum. So if you buy the reel, which is mechanically excellently designed, it will ultimately chip and look bad with use. I have several of the regular chronarchs, which are cheap on ebay because of their appearance, and love them. Buyers should know about the chipping, which will occur. Mechanically great, and I like the older side plate closure design much better than the new chronarch which have a little latch under the side plate to gain access to the vbs, which can come open at the most inopportune times. I have seen someone repaint their older chronarchs with epoxy paints which are supposed to last longer than the factory paint. I have no experience with that. tight lines, art

  5. 8/27/2008 9:58:00 PM Submitted by Big-Bass #11168 from PA says Chronarch Mg
Why would anyone try to disrupt this sale. I too have seen $300+ examples of this reel sell on e-Bay. If the finish chips because of use, so be it. Is the angler enjoying the reel and does the chipping effect the mechanics...NO. Sorry to disrupt, I just think this sale should be left to those interested in buying...not just commenting negatively. Thanks.

  6. 8/28/2008 5:52:00 AM Submitted by RyanC/LanierSpots from GA says Chronarch MG 100
I have 8 of the Chronarch Mg 100 reels and have been using them for years. Not ONE of them has chipped paint on the side plates more than any normal reel.

They are probally the best bait casting reel Shimano ever made. Very much worth the price

Dont be scared of these reels. They are awesome. Hate it they quit making them

  7. 8/28/2008 7:31:00 AM Submitted by Beartrap from GA says it was legitimate question
and i got some legitimate answers....I've got one of the newer model Chronarchs and recently a buddy told me about a neighbor that had six of the older Cronarchs for sale for $125.00 each... they were in like new condition and I ended up buying two of them and really can't tell any difference between them and my newer model....apparently I should have bought more of them at that price......

  9. 8/28/2008 1:28:00 PM Submitted by Stratos295 from GA says No prob
Hey, not everyone knows about the 100MG model I guess...so harm in all the responses...SOLD IT ANYWAYS..I got 5 more to go.....

  10. 8/28/2008 3:11:00 PM Submitted by RyanC/LanierSpots from GA says Beartrap
you may be mistaking the Chronarch which sold for $190 new and the MG model which sold for $299 new.

They are both great reels but the MG was $100 more. If you know of someone who has new MG-100s for that price, I will take them all

    And pay for shipping. LOL.

  11. 8/28/2008 4:14:00 PM Submitted by Beartrap from GA says ryan-they are the cheaper chronarchs
didn't know there was a difference..but for $125.00 I'm still happy....they are awful smooth and throw small baits effortlessly compared to those rebuilt many times ambassadors i used for years......

  12. 8/28/2008 5:19:00 PM Submitted by RyanC/LanierSpots from GA says They are basically
the same reels. They just do not have the mag case. They are awesome reels. I have the Chronarch SF reels (gold ones) on my boat for customers. I have had them for 8 years and they are used everyday. Still going strong and cast like a bullet.

  13. 9/3/2008 11:57:00 AM Submitted by Pmedicbm from MS says Let the man sale his reel....Jerko*F............
The reel is worth the amount he posted plus a little more actually. It's hard to find a mint 100MG for under $300. This is the very reason I only pass through here from time to time, and don't post much on here anymore. If you aren't interested in the item or inquiring about the item leave it alone. He could ask $1000 for it and it would be none of your concern. It's his and he can ask what he wishes for it!!!!!

  16. 9/3/2008 1:59:00 PM Submitted by OhioChamp183 #14873 from OH says actually, i just sold the exact reel, and shipped it today....
