The latest issue of Vanity Fair isn't even on newsstands yet and it's already making headlines for a not-so-politely titled article, "It Came from Wasilla," about Gov. Sarah Palin.
William Kristol at the Weekly Standard is calling it a "hit piece," taking writer Todd Purdum to task for his "dubious claims." A blogger at the Atlantic writes that the article "paints a gruesome picture" of the governor. Politico's Jonathan Martin mulls the "political fallout from the very tough piece."
Early in the almost 10,000-word article, Purdum describes Palin's life as an "unholy amalgam of 'Desperate Housewives' and 'Northern Exposure.'" Purdum has plenty of juicy quotes.
A sampling:
"One longtime McCain friend and frequent companion on the trail was heard to refer to Palin as 'Little Shop of Horrors.'"
"Some top aides worried about her mental state: was it possible that she was experiencing postpartum depression?"
"Several told me, independently of one another, that they had consulted the definition of 'narcissistic personality disorder' in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 'a pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy' and thought it fit her perfectly.
Purdum also quotes unnamed McCain campaign aides who, he writes, seem to "suffer a kind of survivor's guilt":
"They cant quite believe that for two frantic months last fall, caught in a Bermuda Triangle of a campaign, they worked their tails off to try to elect as vice president of the United States someone who, by mid-October, they believed for certain was nowhere near ready for the job, and might never be. They quietly ponder the nightmare they lived through."

Like for instance the 3 million new or saved jobs that Obama was going to create with the stimulous, the No new taxes for anyone making less than $250,000.00 a year, or all the breaches of the Constitution, or the complete failure of his foreign policies or the complete takeover of the auto industry and giving it to the Unions, or his trips to France and New York for entertainment all the while saying that Americans should "Sacrifice." Or Michelles $500.00 Tennis shoes or bowing to the Saudi's or his cabinet picks ineptitude when it comes to paying their own taxes or his complete ruination attempt of the coal industry. Shall I go on?

Or is it you hope she does..Bassandblues has a fixation on her, if you want to know anything about Sarah Palin, especially the "good" stuff, just ask him, he cannot stoop himself from reading everything there is to jnow about her, as long as it is negative..It would seem that she was actually reunning for the Presidency against President Obama, and it isn't even an election year..Some how I just cannot figure the reason for all of the attention..Negative or positive..

...this seems to be the new talking point of the libs in light of Gov Sanford's affair...that is, you or your party can't stand for or promote a particular set of values if you don't measure up to it all the time. Coming from liberals, I guess that I understand that since their standard is basically no standards at all,
The fact is, we are all sinners. Which is worse, to stand for a particular set of values and come up short, or to stand for no values at all? Simply falling short doesn't mean you can no longer promote a particular value set...otherwise the liberals and homosexuals would have to abandon the promotion of tolerance since they are totally intolerant of anything they don't agree with. Who wouldn't agree that we should love our fellow man, but we all fall short of that with a disturbing regularity....by the libs standard then, we shouldn't even promote love. So let's drop this " oh, they did such and such, therefore the Republicans are a bunch of hypocrites...". In reality we all commit acts that someone could call hypocrisy, every day, so that doesn't disqualify you from standing for something you believe in, even if you come up short of that goal.

I think it is the height of a low-life to have to stoop to bashing a woman who's daughter was raped. I am a father of a daughter and can relate to how something like this could affect a parent.And to have any late-night talk show host stoop to this to simply try and increase their ratings is about as low as anyone could possibly stoop. But they are no more of a low-life than the ones on this website that are doing the same thing. I just wonder how great a joke they would have made if Obama's daughter were the victim?

Hvacstar, you will not be the only one voting for Sarah Palin if she runs. "History was made" last November when the first black man was elected. Let's all see that history is repeated by electing the first woman president. God only knows she could never do any worse that the boob we have in there now.

it is next to impossible to say exactly where Obama was born. Especially when a UPI article from November 4, 2008 says Obama was born at Queen's Medical Center in Hawaii on August 4, 1961, to a yound white woman from Kansas and a father of Luo ethnicity from Nyanza Province in Kenya.
Yet, on December 3, 2008, an article in the Honolulu Advertiser stated he was born at Kapiolani Medical Center. Obama's half sister also stated that Obama was born at Kapiiolani Medical Center.But the puzzling factor here is that allegedly there was a birth certificate shown for each birth before the powers that be "took care" of the evidence.
Was he born in Honolulu, then reinserted back into the birth canal so he could be born twice, thus also making history as being the first recorded baby to ever be born twice in two different places? You can surely see the history-setting trend developing here, can't you?
