SUBJECT: Most of you libs are thrilled that Colin Powell came over to support Obama
Submitted by
Bender, MS Gulf Coast from ALABAMA on
What say you..... "The federal government has become too large and too intrusive in our lives," Mr. Powell said then. "We can no longer afford solutions to our problems that result in more entitlements, higher taxes to pay for them, more bureaucracy to run them, and fewer results to show for it."
For you liberals that don't read anything at all and listen only to MTV and Bugs Bunny, He is saying now that Obama is writing too many checks.

reelmadnezz (69.22.110.152) from FLORIDA says remember when he said,
"We know that Saddam Hussein is determined to keep his weapons of mass destruction, is determined to make more"
Then he used those sattelite pictures and the vial of viox or whatever to dupe the American people into spending 700 BILLION DOLLARS in some desert country we won't name.
Is he a hero or goat to you bender?

PJzaBruin #10908 from CALIFORNIA says I say Powell STILL makes more sense than most of his fellow Republicans
after all, for most of this decade, they controlled all three branches of the Federal Government, and it grew at an unprecedented rate.
And yes, I believe Obama is going too far with some of his programs.

JR #11020 from MISSOURI says PJ - how much deficit has been incurred in the last 6 months?
nm
-
PJzaBruin #10908 from CALIFORNIA says Much less than in the 8 years preceding it.

-
JR #11020 from MISSOURI says PJ, that is funny
u can't be serious?
-
PJzaBruin #10908 from CALIFORNIA says It's TRUE, JR, not funny
the Bush administration doubled the National Debt from $5 Trillion to $10 Trillion.
The National Debt today is far less than $15 Trillion.
-
JR #11020 from MISSOURI says and what will it be in 10 yrs pj?
have fun at mikey's memorial.
-
PJzaBruin #10908 from CALIFORNIA says The increase between January 20, 2009 and July 2, 2009 has been $863 Billion
give or take a few hundred million dollars.
The last budget submitted by George W. Bush runs through September 30, 2009. He and Obama share responsibility for the $863 Billion (and the $300 Billion more to come over the next few months). After that, it's all on Obama.
In terms of Fiscal Years for which Bush submitted the budget (IGNORING the period since Obama's inauguration), the total growth in debt was $4,820 Billion That's over 5 times the amount the debt has grown since the inauguration. Again, some of that growth is the responsibility of W.
It's a fun website... http://www.treasurydirect.gov/NP/BPDLogin?application=np
Hope that's not too "left-wing" for all y'all wingnuts.

JR #11020 from MISSOURI says nice spin, but 10 yrs from now?
nm
-
PJzaBruin #10908 from CALIFORNIA says How are facts spin?
10 years from now? I'm no clairvoyant, but I will say this...
If Obama and the current Congress enact everything they want, they will probably double the national debt in 8 years time. And that would be disastrous.
The likelihood of that coming to pass? I have confidence that there are enough members of my own party who will see this problem to make that likelihood pretty minimal.
-
TexasGeorge from TEXAS says PJ you know darn good and well
That was not Bush's budget. Had it been congress would have submitted it to him for signature in Oct of 08!
Pelosi and crew rewrote the budget and knew Bush would veto it. So they waited for Obama to sign it. That is FACT!
Nice spin attempt above but it doesn't hold water.

Almost an Angel (64.127.45.20) from WEST VIRGINIA says Colin Powell makes sense
because he is a military "yes-man". He agrees with whomever he is conversing with or whichever subject is the most popular at the moment.
-
Arby from TEXAS says Almost...What military did you serve in where all the ..
Generals are "yes" men?
"Yes" men Generals don't win many wars but "know nothing" Politicians can lose them....Korea, Vietnam and Somalia come to mind...for the latter.
My experience has been that ...What an Admiral or General "thought" could/should be interpreted as an order... to which subordinates respond with an Aye, Aye Sir or a Yes, Sir...if they are smart, that is.
As for Powell, he bailed out on Bush because he wasn't a "yes" man.
Just sayin'

Almost an Angel (64.127.45.36) from WEST VIRGINIA says I served in the U.S. army from 1960 till 1963.
And during this time I saw so much apple-polishing and ass-kissing that I knew the service was not for me. But to get back to Colin Powell.
I remembered an article I had read several years ago on Powell being an apple-polisher, so I went into search and typed in "Was Colin Powell an apple-polisher. Here is a small part of what I found:
Powell's first apple polishing role was in Vietnam. Just prior to the My Lai Massacre he was ordered to investigate a substantial rumor that American G.I's were indiscriminately killing Vietnamese civilians. Powell's putrid "investigation" produced a "don't-rock-the-boat report. There were no unnecessary civilian deaths, he reported. Then My Lai exploded onto the public conscience.
There were no young men in the village of My Lai--just old people, women and children. They were not armed. Our soldiers killed all 347 of them.
In a Jan.15, 1989 edition of The New York Times, there was an article by Colin Powell. The headline on the article was "Why History Will Honor Mr. Reagan." The article was unabashingly flattering toward Ronald Reagan, who was President at the time. It was such an obvious apple polishing article that it was embarrassing.
At the time of the article, Powell was a three star general and an assistant for national security affairs. Three months later he got his fourth star. And a few months after that he became Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
There are several more examples of apple polishing by Powell in the article but you can check on search to find them all for yourself.

Arby from TEXAS says Alnost ...I looked up these references....And you are entitled to your opinion...
as I am to mine...as are the authors of the various references for whatever reason or whatever their agenda was.
-
Almost an Angel (64.127.45.52) from WEST VIRGINIA says Now it comes down to differences of opinion, eh Arby?
What I researched was about how big of an a--kisser Colin Powell was all through his military career. And BTW, I did not call EVERY general a yes man. It seems you sucked that out of your A-- all by yourself. But isn't this about par for the course for you straight party Democrat dimwits?
-
Arby from TEXAS says Almost..... you are the biggest dumb ass of the day
All that crap you researched is just another writers opinion...not facts. And I have the right to have my opinion about what they wrote...just as I have the right to my opinion of you.
Straight party Democrat dim wits?....sonny boy you are a Johnny come Lately to this page and are running your mouth about something that you know absolutely nothing about such as where I stand on political issues.
The day that I follow any party line is the day that Hell freezes over...party politics are for people that can't/won't think for themselves...like yourself.
-
Almost an Angel (64.127.45.86) from WEST VIRGINIA says Arby, it is not I who is the dumbass here.
I take you back to my post and thread # 12.I wrote: Colin Powell makes sense because he is a military "yes man." He agrees with whomever he is conversing with or whichever subject is the most popular at the moment. Then you returned with: WHAT MILITARY DID YOU SERVE IN WHERE ALL GENERALS WERE "YES MEN." Did I say anything about all generals being "yes men"?
You then followed with more distribe that did not pertain to my thread at all. You could not even stay on subject here because you fantasized far more than you actually read. Yet you call me a "dumbass" and a 'Johnny Come Lately' and know nothing about where you stand on political issues. After realizing how far off course you went on my post I find it hard to belioeve that you even know how you stand on any issue.
As far as to differences of opinion, this is also about as far fetched as your other rantings because the website I got my information from had all documented information. I do believe I gave The New York Times as one source of information, didn't I? And the article was authored by Powell himself, so where do you get off by trying to classify it as a difference of opinion?
Yessir, there is sure a "dumbass" here, but it definitely is not I.
BTW, I will be gone for a couple of weeks so don't think you won anything here, stupid.
-
Arby from TEXAS says OMG...sorry to disagree with an "angel", that is almost sacrilegious.
It really pisses you off for someone to disagree with you doesn't it?
My "rant" only pointed out why I disagreed with your "Yes Man" label...that must have gone by you ...if you even thought about what was said...to profound for you I guess?
As far as winning anything, whats to win?... Arguing with or getting into a pissing contest with a mental midget is like kicking a drunk.... Don't let the door hit you in the arse on your way out...have a nice day.
