SUBJECT: Jeb Bush endorses McCain re-election bid
Submitted by
Bucket from OKLAHOMA on
Dang, about all of the conservatives are lining up behind McCain. Besides that loose cannon of a sheriff, who else has endorsed that JD dude?
-
Publius #10953 from MARYLAND says and you were concerned about 3rd party splintering...
McCain has already shown he can't compete with Obama. In the '08 debates he came off like a whiney old man as he kept repeating the same talking points that the mainstream media had already reduced to a Letterman top-10 list. Obama's juggular was hanging wide open and McCain wouldn't go near it. He can loose it all by himself, without a 3rd party.
I've not much against McCain. Just being practical.
-
Bucket from OKLAHOMA says Ummm Pubes
Who's talking about '08? He ain't running for president again. Appearances really seem to matter to you. Who'd a thunk it?
A third party is the ONLY thing that can get Barry re-elected in 2012. I hope we don't screw the pooch on that one.
-
Harumph #11038 from OHIO says I don't know about that Bucket
After the blood bath that happens in November I am thinking the DIMs might be backing someone other than Obama in 2012.
Then again, they are like lemmings.
-
HB #10313 from INDIANA says Interesting thought, Rumphy...
BTW - where has Sweet Hil been lately, and where is her voice on the healthcare thing? That was her signature issue when Billy Boy was in office, yet she is strangely quiet on that as well as the Middle East blowup by Hand Grenade Joe Biden last night. Could she be getting ready for running in '12?
Bucket - the only ones who are going to decide about McCain are Arizonans. I really don't see how Jeb Bush's endorsement will have that big of an impact there, and besides, Jeb isn't all THAT much of a conservative - he's like W.... Socially not conservative at all.
-
Bucket from OKLAHOMA says Just a little shot at Ereich, HB
Jeb must be an immaculate conservative because Ereich lurvs him. First Sarah and now Jeb endorsing McCain has to be a couple of bitter pills for our Canadian friend.
-
Eric-Maine (76.178.216.253) from MAINE says McCain like
Dee Dee Scozzafava earlier will diminish all those who endorse him
-
Bucket from OKLAHOMA says There's the Ereich I know and lurv!
He's been in office for some time now, ya know. Don't ya think he would have tarnished them by now? You know, in the eyes of normal people and not Nazi Canadians.
-
Eric-Maine (76.178.216.253) from MAINE says Hugs and Kisses
Bucket.
JD hayworth is the best thing that has happened to McCain. He may even be a decent Senator till November while he lets McGrahamnesty do his bidding.
-
Larry-Southern Indiana from INDIANA says eric......you think hayworth is a better choice than McCain?
Seriously?
-
Eric-Maine (76.178.216.253) from MAINE says You
would be a better choice than McCain. Seriously
-
Bucket from OKLAHOMA says Most recent ACU ratings
McCain is conservative as they come on defense and spending. You boys can fight the social battles until hell freezes over for all I care.
http://67.20.95.56/ratings/ratingsarchive/2009/Senate%20Ratings.htm
You should like my Okie boys, Ereich. Your gals from Maine, not so much.
-
Eric-Maine (76.178.216.253) from MAINE says You check out
that progressive republican site yet?
-
Bucket from OKLAHOMA says Nope
If your gals are featured I don't have much use for it. Are the Tea Party folks still giddy about Scott Brown?
-
Eric-Maine (76.178.216.253) from MAINE says I am betting he is getting
some hate mail.
McCain is featured btw. Also the tea party has the same attitude toward social issues as you.
Social issues have nothing to do with my dislike for McCain. The fact that he is Obama lite is.
-
Bucket from OKLAHOMA says Let's see here
McCain's 2009 ACU rating was 96, lifetime is 81.97.
Snowe in 2009 was 48, lifetime is 47.88.
Collins in 2009 was 48, lifetime is 49.43.
So, if McCain is Obama lite does that mean your gals are Lenin lite? Are they featured on the Huffington Post?
-
Larry-Southern Indiana from INDIANA says Your turn eric
I believe ol bucky boy has you cornered......Eh?
-
Eric-Maine (76.178.216.253) from MAINE says I would be the last to defend "my gals"
but in their defense they know their roles and are pretty harmless unless they are lead and empowered by someone like McCain.
BTW there is no one running against Olympia so far in 2010 that I know of.
-
HB #10313 from INDIANA says In all fairness...
We have Dick Lugar as a senator, and I am mortified that he is still in office - he really, really needs to go to the old folks home. If you remember, he was mentioned for an Obama cabinet post - he is every bit the RINO that the Maine gals are.
I vote against him every time, but there is only so much that I can do other than vote against him. Perhaps we can get a better choice in when Evan Bayh's seat gets filled.
-
Bucket from OKLAHOMA says Talk to me about Mitch Daniels, HB
Don't know a thing about him but I hear his conservative cred is strong. They say he is considering a presidential bid.
Skip it, Larry.
-
HB #10313 from INDIANA says From Real Clear Politics 11/17/2009... sums it up better than I can
With a resume that includes both political and policy posts at the local, state and national level, Mitch Daniels arguably boasts the strongest experience of any Republican in the country. Re-elected overwhelmingly to a second term in 2008 even as President Obama carried the Hoosier State, Daniels’ service as Indiana’s governor would come to an end just as a new president is sworn in. But does he want the job?
Daniels started his career as an aide to Richard Lugar when he was mayor of Indianapolis. He later served as his chief of staff in the Senate, and later joined the Reagan White House as political director. He returned to public life after a decade as an executive at pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly by serving as the director of the Office and Management and Budget at the start of the Bush administration.
At a time when Indiana was solidly red in federal elections, “My Man Mitch” as he was known in the campaign became the first Republican elected governor in 16 years in 2004, defeating incumbent Joe Kernan. His governorship was marked early on by some controversial decisions regarding daylight savings time and a plan to lease the state’s toll roads to a foreign entity. But his numbers rebounded as the state endured the worsening economic crisis better than some of its Rust Belt neighbors, and he cruised to re-election.
At a time when not just the nation’s economy but its growing debts are a mounting concern, Daniels’ credentials as a fiscal conservative are likely his strongest asset in a potential 2012 race. Indiana currently has one of the lowest budget deficits in the county as a percentage of its general fund, and was one of the few states not to implement new or higher taxes this year, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Mitch has been good for Indiana, especially in light of what is going on in Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio to a lesser degree. Good conservative credentials, and a great background in fiscal policy and budgets. Our resident turd mangler and his girlfriend hate him, because 1) he's not a Dem. and 2) he is anti-union. Mitch would be a good choice - better than some of the other potential candidates.

Publius #10953 from MARYLAND says Sorry Bucket...
I missed the "re-".
Appearances don't matter to me at all, but they do to a majority of voters when it comes to electability. And McCain is so charismatic that he can be painted as Bozo and then go on acting like Bozo.
-
Bucket from OKLAHOMA says No probs, Pubes
Be careful that your hard-on for McCain doesn't turn into a case of full blown priapism like Eric has.
