SUBJECT: Trolling motor

Trolling motor switch keeps burning up? i looked down
sunday and there was smoke coming from up under foot pedal
i've got a brute 67# thrust tm. red wire from switch is melting?!@#!. i think it is something in the 12/24 switch that's causing this thing to keep acting up. my boat is a 2000 tr186. any ideas on what to begin looking for or check
with some kind of amp meter / ohm meter , etc.

Had the same thing happen to me on my 2001 tr20..same motor as well.nice stinky smoke comming from the switch. and THAT was exactly the problem..the switch..I got a new switch..it settled the problem..then I really made sure it wouldnt happen again..I bought a MINNKOTA!..
