SUBJECT: Merc 200 carb vs 200 efi on a FS190

Can anyone give me some input on performance differences on these 2 engines.


I am going to be buying a triton FS190 and want to know if the 2004 merc 200 classic carb 2.5 liter will perform adequatly.
I know the 3.1 liter efi has more oomph but what would i actually be losing with the carbed engine?

   I have a 225 efi now and have had carbs before there is no way i would go back to a carb motor . power is faster on efi fuel mileage is better on efi fuel system care is easyer cold start is faster. runs smother . the one i have now is s 2001 motor and i do not cut it any slack, runs today as good as it did new . care and service is the key. paulb

2. Triton Rodney, Jett-A-Marina from KENTUCKY says 200 efi all the way
   No way would i put that 2.5 on a 190S/F when just for a little more you can get a EFI 3 liter that will do a far better job on that boat. That boat is very heavy in the front end and that 2.5 just does not have the power to treat that hull like a 3 liter can. Beleive me the 3 liter is the way to go. Rodney
