SUBJECT: Trailer Brakes Locking Up in Reverse

I have a 2000 Triton SFB21 with an MFI dual axel trailer. When backing my boat and trailer up a hill the brakes lock up. I can put a lock out key in and it will back up. However, I don't want to have to do this all the time. What do you think could be wrong? How can I diagnos what the problem is?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

That has always been a problem for the now older but first run or earlier tandem axle trailers. I know some people that got so frusturated that they just cut the line. It always and only happened in reverse. My suggestion would be to take it down and see if you cannot get a current or newer brake system , lines, cables the whole works put on it. Thats what I suggest.

I have had the same problem. You need to make sure that your electrical connection is good from your vehicle to your trailer. My problem was the link for my reverse. The indication was no backup lights on my truck. Other than that backing up hill my require the mechanical lock out that Triton Dealers may give you or worst case sell you.
