SUBJECT: "01" TR 20 tachometer problem

I have recently experienced a problem w/ my tach.
At idle it preforms properly, but on acceralation and fully trimmed out at speed it, bounces giving me a false reading. The readings sometimes bounce between 3K and 7k(erartic).
Would appreciate any input that you could shed on this problem.
