SUBJECT: Anybody tried to make that new Alabama rig

Submitted by STRETCH1 #11051 from VIRGINIA on

The prices they are selling for are $25 retail and I saw some on ebay for $150. Anybody tried to make one of these!

  1. pd (68.207.214.168) from VIRGINIA says you can make one on your cnc machine for two thousand!
    .

  2. luremaker (216.49.248.133) from KANSAS says alabama rig easy
easy to make. dermel out my one ounce spinnerbait mould .big swilve in head and wires you get at barlows .egg sinker mould works to.

  3. Lunker (70.119.136.43) from FLORIDA says A-Rig wires
Does anyone know how thick the wires are on a A-rig? (inches) How long are they?

  4. luremaker (216.49.248.133) from VIRGINIA says wire
Iam making mine out of .035 stright wire shaft from Barlows tackle .seven and half inches long but ya need to have a tool to bind the end of wire . the wire has a hook at one end which i put all 5 wires in one of a end of a swivle then put in the mold .works great.

  5. billsp from NJ #10879 from VIRGINIA says Made a couple with stuff from Lowes
that was described on one of the other boards on BFHP. In the aisles where all the tools are, they sell packs of 25 of the small flags that lawn care and utility marker guys use for $5.xx; and in the aisle where the cable and chain are sold, they sell small packs that have aluminum crimp collars. I bought the ones around 3/16". Made the rigs two ways, four wires around 7" with a center wire about 9", and a loop for line connection on the long center wire. Took the round collar and drilled it out slightly to bunch all 5 wires in it and soldered them together and then slid the collar in place and secured it with some crazy glue to the wire. On the bait end of each wire, put a small snap swivel in an eye loop and drop of solder on the eye. Remember to crimp the collar. Second one, I bend small Ls on the end of the 4 short wires and a tie off loop on the longer center wire, slid all into the collar and then the snap swivel on the end of each with an overlapping eye bent of the end of the wire.

Since you're from Va, will this work on Kerr, assuming you match the bait fish size?

  6. luv2bassfish13215 (66.177.145.68) from FLORIDA says A-Rig
I've made a bunch and I'm thinking about selling them..

  7. luremaker (216.49.248.133) from KANSAS says a-rig
if your going to use utility flags they will rust after a while .i use them every day at work . dont make to many up. i use stainless steel wire 100 for $9.00 @barlows or stamina.this is the easyist lure to make.
