SUBJECT: NvS Rules (as they exist at this time)

Submitted by spinnerB8 from VIRGINIA on

OFFICIAL RULES.

1. Each team must name a Captain. For 2004, the Captain for Team North is UFM82, and for Team South, Tucson and Unca Gooty.

2. Captains will submit their team roster no later than January 15th, 2004 which will be the official start date of the tournament. The tournament shall run from January 15, 2004 through December 31, 2004, all dates inclusive. Entries must be recieved by 11:59pm on December 31, 2004 to be eligible.

3. Team members once on the roster cannot be removed.

4. Each team member may submit as many entries as he/she would like.

5. Only the 2 best scoring entry for each member will count. (2 scores possible per team mate).

6. Final score for each team will be the total points accumulated by the team divided by the number of team members.

7. All fish will be considered if they have an existing record in the state/province in which it was caught. (* NOTE: If Spotted Bass visibly cannot be distingushed from a Largemouth Bass, it will be counted as a Largemouth. Sauger and/or Saugeye may be submitted in the walleye category)

8. SCORING: Scoring for freshwater and saltwater fish will be the weight of fish caught divided by the state record for that fish. This will give us the percentage of the potential 100 points per species the fish/angler earned. The state record is the state ALL TACKLE RECORD. No line class records will be considered. A certified State Record shall be awarded an additional 100 points for the team the person belongs to.

9. Legal fish: ANY species that has an existing record for the state/province in which it was caught, and must be caught with rod and reel. No snagging, gigging, netting or unsportsman like methods are allowed. No fish caught while employing a paid guide of any kind will qualify. Any participant that is a professional guide may only weigh fish that were caught in a non-paid fishing trip. Fish must be caught using legal means during legal seasons, if seasons apply to that fish/state. All fish must be caught in waters that are accessible to the public, whether a fee is charged or not. NO PRIVATE PONDS!

10. Use of live bait is prohibited for largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass.

11. Fish submitted for consideration must be accompanied by a picture of that fish being weighed on a scale. The weight must be visible. In the event you determine it would be harmful to the fish to remove it from the net and weigh it, you may weigh the net and fish together and then weigh the net without the fish. Pictures of both the net/fish weight and just net weight must be submitted. Entries may also be entered using Tournament weigh slips, or information documented on a Tournament results website/newsletter.

12. All scoring for freshwater fish will be based on the records published at: http://www.bassresource.com/links/statelinks.html

All scoring for saltwater fish will be based on the records for the state where the fish were caught. The following sites have saltwater records for certain states:

In the event a saltwater fish is caught and submitted from a state not included in the listings above or in the event one or all of the above URL addresses is incorrect, it shall remain the resposibility of the person attempting to enter the fish to provide a source for state record verification. The above listings are only provided to entrants for reference purposes. If a state or province reference source can not be found, the entrant's fish shall be weighed against the IGFA all-tackle world record. If a fish is caught in Mexico and a source can't be found to verify against, then the world record shall prevail.
