brings back memories from Beartrap  8/18/2009 9:13:26 AM
I had a brand new 62 model Glasspar ski boat with small fins....had 45 hp Merc similar to one in the article.....lived in houston, texas and would use it on lake houston....had it little over a year and it got stolen and only was insured for amount of loan and I couldn't afford another new one.....had series of used boats for next 20 years before I could afford another new boat.....

   Old Evinrude from BR400  8/18/2009 9:38:58 AM
We had a boat with one of those old Evinrude's.

Those white Mercury's were LOUD!

didn't notice the merc being that loud....maybe you were just used to being behind one instead of in front.....

Beartrap from Ralph Manns  8/18/2009 12:41:41 PM
We have someting in Common. When about 25 I owned an aluminum ski boat with fins. Water skiing seemed to attract more girls than fishing in those days.

I can't remember the boat manufacturer, but I had a 40 on it that went fast enough to ski, jump, and slolum. It all went for naught when after a year or two I got married and also discovered there were green fish under the reservoir surface.

Ralph-might have been Feathercraft or Alumnacraft from Beartrap  8/18/2009 1:23:46 PM
I think i recall a couple of brands of aluminum ski boats...I believe they were Feathercraft and Alumnacraft...here's a link to feathercraft catalogs from 50's & 60's...some of the models had fins....
