    Gentlemen defend your dog

A thread on the politicker board got me to thinking about some of my old friends. I had a Dalamation that would swim underwater to pick up rocks, a Shepard that absolutly hated UPS trucks, and a Chesapeke that was so scared of water that she would hold the Sheperd by the tail when he tried to get in. Old mutt that would bite at the outboard when the kids used to ski. All good dogs and friends until the end. The dumbest damn dog I ever owned was a Husky. The SOB field stripped my neighbors cat, ate my other neighbors turkey, and finallly stood right in front of my kids truck and met his demise.

I have a Springer Spaniel that swims under water and looks for rocks. He stays under a good long time, has actually worried us a time or two. And he doesn't swim vertically like most dogs, he swims horizontally all the while trying to touch bottom with his back feet. His names Gunny but we call him Goony, that name fits better.

Yeah but, can your dog walk on water?... from Gridleak  11/6/2009 2:16:58 PM

When I was a kid I had a mutt named Skipper. My neighbor kept chickens and when Skipper was a young pup he liked to go play with the neighbors chickens.
He would chase them and when he would catch and they would try to get away old Skipper would chew on them until they quit fighting. Since they were no longer fun he would run catch another, same outcome.

The neighbor needless to say was not happy and told my dad if he killed one more chicken he would shoot him. Scared the hell out of me.
My uncle had a grocery store and in those days some grocery stores kept live chickens out back in a chicken coop.
My uncle told my dad to bring my dog down to the store and they put Skipper in with two old big roosters. They kicked his butt, it wasn't pretty and they scared the heck out of him. After that you could lay a chicken next to him and I swear he would turn away. Never another problem.

Skipper lived to be sixteen years old, and when the day came he had to be put down, I had to ask my dad to take him to the vet I didn't have the heart.

Had an Aussie that was overly protective of family members. I would have to take her outside if I was going to spank my kids, she would growll and get between me and the kids when I got after them. Good dog!

Looking forward to your hunting pictures Wacko. Gunny doesn't hunt or fetch and he's a lousy swimmer. Thats his "I've been a bad boy" look in the picture. He has that look alot.

been off duck hunting a week where they ain't no internet access and Blue met me at door....soon as I got through petting her,she ran back and jumped up in chair in front of computer and commenced barking......I knew she had been reading BFHP while i was gone and I figured she was trying to tell me Bucket had insulted me again...when I pulled this post up,it was obvious what she wanted....her picture on this post too.......

Me and you and a dog named Blue from Wackoman  11/7/2009 10:19:11 PM

Actually it's a dog named Boo but every time I hear that tune I think of Blue and the Beartrap clan.

How was the duck hunting? Good enough for an ESPN journal?

not too good wacko from Beartrap  11/8/2009 7:35:33 AM
hunted 4 days and had one decent hunt....was hunting southeast corner of North Dakota and they have had abnormal amount of rain...potholes were over full making it difficult to hide plus I think we timed it too late and about half the ducks had left and started south....always fun to go off a hunting trip with your buddies though...

lookin at that handsome devil on the screen, wondering who he might be.

My Dad had a beagle named Blue, best little deer dog that ever ran the Glades. He got stolen twice but he found his way back home (180 miles away).

I like your Dog Beartrap. Bet shes a sweetie.

Betty-that might be but she ain't promiscuous from Beartrap  11/8/2009 10:35:56 PM
don't know why she's like that but if another dog sniffs her the wrong way it's an instant fight... I have to watch her around other dogs especially large dogs because she is a lot braver than she is big...she's been fixed because I was traveling a lot at the time and one litter of eight puppies was enough to cure miz beartrap from raising anymore puppies......

she is a little mischievous sweetie.
