What we need to remember is that our military is a microcosm of society and there are good, bad, criminal and crazy and yes, even the insane as part of that. There is every kind of religion and cult represented as well. Literaly, every kind of person walking down the streets of America, can be found in uniform. To this point the military has done a damned good job of either weeding them out or assimilating them. But no matter how hard you try you can't identify them all.

Sure they are just as many wackos and outlaws in fatigues as they are on the streets on percentage bases. That is proven often when soldiers are arrested for rape, murder, thief and other offenses both here and abroad. Still, not to allow our soldiers to arm themselves while stateside does nothing but make them targets. The nutty psychiatrist made that very clear day before yesterday.
I am sure that anyone at Fort Hood (or any other military installment) scheduled for deployment was screened as well or better than most civilians applying for a firearm permit. Certainly better trained in the use of than the majority of civilians. If that is not the case then they should not be given tanks to use;)
I don't know the military policies concerning carrying weapons. I do know that not all enlisted personal are issued the M9. Maybe individual armament doesn't need to be mandatory but just allowed. One soldier in that building with a sidearm might have made a huge difference when this thing went down. Just the threat of having fire returned might have stopped this recent event although I doubt. This kook like most had a death wish. Too bad he took so many with him.
You can't govern from a position of fear. And to me it is blatantly unfair to ask our young men and women to protect this country and not allow them to protect themselves while doing so. I don't care if they are in the Waffle House stateside, behind rock in a hell hole called Afghanistan or in line on base being processed for deployment. They have more enemies than most of us while in uniform.

... that indicated the first people this lunatic took out were two armed security personnel. I do not know if these personnel were civilian security or MP's. What is certain is that security, while not to blame, was obviously operating under a false sense of security.
As with most any lapse in security the question often arises "Who would have thought...", especially when dealing with a "secure" Army post such as Fort Hood.
Unfortunately the answer to the question is that "Security" is responsible for asking the question in the first place. All to often now days security is nothing more than some guy standing around with a gun on his hip, making a show of "security" while shootin' the shixt with his buddy.
While it is easy to say that hindsight is 20/20, the so called "experts" in security have done a pixx poor job of looking expert in recent years. Though profiling my well be politically incorrect for the rest of us... it should be security's mandate to do so. It should be considered the most important job that they have been hired to do... professionally.
Perhaps we should quit calling them "Security", and give them the title of "Professional Profilers". That way they would know what their job is... and we would all be more secure.

A few years back, I remember reading Israel has the lowest gun crime rate in the world, even though there are more guns. Every Israeli, man and woman, spends a tour in the military, is highly trained in weapon usage, and in the article I remember, stayed in the reserves and carried their weapon at all times. I have seen pictures of them walking down the street carrying AK47's, or something similar. If all these civilian police I see every day, without anywhere near the training of our military, armed, why isn't our military armed?
Let's have more of the little lady who shot the perp. Her first words to the medic who first attended her was: "Did I kill the Motherfukker?"

the Ft. Hood knucklehead had been posting on Jihad websites praising suicide killers. Duh. That fact was posted within 12 hours of the subject at hand, so someone knew before hand. Why didn't someone do something when they knew this dingbat was posting on Jihad websites? This is going to get a lot worse. There are lots of implants out there just waiting for there moment. Did the Big O ever provide proof of his Birth Certificate or College Transcripts? Just asking.

You all can voice your opinion how you wish or want it to be, but the real world is what it is. Not meaning offense. It's just the way it is.

... and it was originally codified to USC Title 15, Chapter 18, Section 901 to 910… and was repealed in 1968 and replaced with Title 18, Part 1, Chapter 44. This was signed into law as Public Law 90-618.
Possession of Firearms and dangerous weapons in Federal Facilities is covered under Section 930.
Essentially it says you can’t carry guns on or in a federal facility unless you are a member of security.
http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/18/usc_sec_18_00000930----000-.html
This is the same code that covers everything owned by the federal government (A to Z) from Army posts to national Zoos.
There have been a couple of amendments to the code.
The Brady Bill of 1992
And
The Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban of 1996.
It should be noted that the law and subsequent amendments were enacted under democrat administrations with congressional majorities as noted:
Johnson in 1968 – Both Chambers of Congress had a democrat majority.
Clinton in 1992 – Both Chambers of Congress had a democrat majority.
Clinton in 1996 – Both Chambers of Congress had a Republican majority.
One final amendment was passed in 2010 under the Obama administration when both chambers of congress had a democrat majority. All firearms were banned for American citizens… anytime… anyplace.
I come to you with this message… from the future. It is November 07, 2011 where I am at. Our nation has fallen… and it can’t get up.
Goodbye…
Good luck…
Thanks for all the fish…
