I've Heard Tell from Tbone  6/29/2012 4:22:54 PM
that he buids a decent bass rod. Never heard of him building anything for the salt. If'n so, I may be interested.

Wade, have fun tomorrow at the beach. Let the motel folks know that we don't break too much stuff and will most likely be in bed by 10PM.......

Tight lines.

Y'all need to simplify things for the out of towners. Texas to VA transplant here.

Bass or any 6-7 ft. skinny stick, 10-14# test with 20# leader. If your chunking live shrimp (which you should), 2ft under a popping cork, hooked through the horn on a very small treble. Topwater - black/chartruese topdog jr. or super spook til the sun's just breaking, then bass assassins in pumpkin/chartruese on a 1/4oz head.
You should be waist to chest deep in the suds when casting

Toss your choice in the schools of mullet if present. Trout bite (if they're there) will die by 7:30am...period.

Switch to big sticks after for sharks, 3 in. cut fresh mullet on a slide with a 4-6oz spider weight. Slide the eye of the hook down one of the wires on the weight and let it fly. The hook will dis-engage when it hits the water. You can buy redfish or shark leaders made for this set up at any tackle shop there as well as the spider weights. You need to cast out at least 40 yards. 20# test is fine with a 50# leader.

That is ALL you need so save the packing and guessing. If they aren't hitting those, they aren't there.

If they aren't that far up the Boliver, fish the "pocket" by the north jetty, or take a drive between the transformers and the Freeport jetties.

If it isn't green to the beach, the trout will be a tough go. Just sayin'. Peace.
