Closest near shore rig ......... from Wade Fisher  7/3/2012 10:16:12 AM
nine miles out. Buddy of mine fished that rig last weekend and tore the trout up on it. Never known anybody to fish for trout in thirty feet of water, but it's a good piece of information to store away for those days when a high pressure system is parked over the top of us.

Do you have to from Cuejockey  7/3/2012 10:55:47 AM
wade all the way out to that rig? See that first little breaker? Fish it!

I don't see them over here, from Gene  7/3/2012 11:02:41 AM
but in the panhandle of Florida in the 90s they would use a "casting float" to get your bait out with. It is a plastic chicken egg looking float that you fill with water. It may weigh 2-3 ozs but it floats. It is good to get a light weight bait out a great distance. In Ft Walton Beach the pier rats would use them to throw light weight spoons to the Spanish. Does Texas use these things, Wade?

Whewwww glad them aint aliens after yall from CSpots  7/3/2012 12:14:36 PM
That'd be badder- Lost lepers- Them Aliems might be spitting them back out

Never seen anything like that Gene ........ from Wade Fisher  7/3/2012 12:15:23 PM
We're pretty set on using your typical popping or rattling corks down here. If I'm throwing something really light I usually switch to spinning gear. Cuts down of the bird nests. Bwahahahaha

Gene & Wade, Casting Floats from Tbone  7/3/2012 12:33:14 PM
Somebody at BPS, Leeds was talking about those water filled floats a week ago last Saturday. You fill the float 1/2 way with water, for the weight, and it will still float. Folks down Fl Panhandle fish live bait under them for 'specs' & grey trout (Whiting). I look around in my fishing dept and found out my store did not carry them. And I'm not driving down to Spanish Fort store for'em. I have 2 sizes of popping corks that should work.

Beach looks good this AM. Folks got 4 'pop-ups' set up and noticed folks waded out further than I've seen'em lately. Low tide and fairly calm water.

TBS used a remote control hobby boat to carry his baits far out on days he wanted to sit his buttocks on the beach chair and drank many cold adult beverages.

Sure seems like all of a sudden I got a chitload of stuff to do to get ready for this rally.

Sittin on the beach drankin and watchin y'all feesh sure sounds easier.

I came to the same conclusion ........ from Wade Fisher  7/3/2012 3:56:02 PM
when I realized it's gonna take me two trips to haul all the stuff we need down there for four days.

Might just be easier to give y'all GPS coordinates for that surf cam we've all been watching and I can stay home and watch online.
